The work that will make it possible to eliminate some more of the Media Tension overhead power lines that cross the urban agglomeration of Vila de São Brás de Alportel are already on the ground.
The intervention, under the responsibility of EDP, includes the creation of a new underground section and the replacement of some lines.
The lines to be eliminated are the one connecting São Brás de Alportel to Vilarinhos and the one that passes over the Calçada roundabout, on the South Bypass, next to the Parque de Manobras.
In the first case, the line «coins with the building, in particular with the parking lot in the “Lidl” commercial area and with the existing houses in this area».
On the other hand, an underground route will be installed between the roundabout on the EN2 on the Southern Variant and the ER 270, «protecting its surrounding area».
The current aerial layout of the line that runs from the roundabout on the EN2 South Variant, at the entrance of São Brás de Alportel, to the São Brás de Alportel Electric Substation, will also be replaced.
