Before being handed over to the captain of Benfica, or Sporting, on Sunday, at Estádio Algarve, the Cândido Oliveira Super Cup will be on display at the Municipal Museum of Faro this tuesday and wednesday, between 10 am and 00 pm. During these two days, the museum will be on “Open Day”, meaning admission is free.

The Super Cup was designed and conceived by Nuno Duarte Martins and, according to the Chamber of Faro, is “unanimously recognized as one of the most beautiful official trophies”.

The City Council “associates itself with the Portuguese Football Federation, the organizing body of the competition, giving all citizens and visitors to our municipality the opportunity to observe one of the most important trophies in the Portuguese football scene, on the eve of the great derby. which will take place at the Estádio Algarve, on the 9th of August», refers the municipality.

The Cândido de Oliveira Super Cup is a trophy that is disputed every year between the champion of the Primeira Liga and the winner of the Portuguese Cup. The current holder of the trophy is Benfica, which won the Rio Ave in the 2014 edition. The first edition took place in 1979, establishing Boavista Futebol Clube.
