The city of Silves will celebrate the Municipality Day on September 3rd with the presentation of the municipality's new website and a tribute to the municipality's athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout the year in their sports. The solemn session takes place at Paços do Concelho from 10:00 am.
After the solemn session, at 12:00 pm, the Manuel Neto dos Santos Literary Poetry Prize, an initiative of Editora Arandis, will be awarded. At that time, the municipality technician Sónia Pereira will have an intervention entitled “Silves: Labyrinths and Fascínios”.
Throughout the day, to mark the 25th anniversary of the creation and opening of the Municipal Museum of Archeology of Silves, entrances to this space are free and guided visits will be made to the Cisterna Well, «ex libris of this museum space”, according to the municipality.
However, the celebrations start on the 29th, with the XXXIII Encounter of Civilian Bands, which takes place at Al-Mu'tamid Square, at 21 pm.
September 3 marks the date on which 826 years have passed since the conquest of the city.
