beach health centerThe Praia Health Posts, which the Algarve Regional Health Administration has installed in 32 bathing areas in the region, have already served more than 3500 people since the beginning of the summer.

The posts, organized in collaboration with the Portuguese Red Cross, will be in operation at least until the 30th of August (seven of them will remain in place until the 13th of September).

The ARS revealed some data regarding the operation of these 32 Beach Posts, where the number of people served so far stands out: 3524.

This value corresponds, respectively, to «1.905 treatments, 670 blood pressure measurements, 546 visits due to spiderfish and insect bites, 115 to perform blood glucose tests and 237 to administer injections, with 51 referrals to other health facilities,” according to ARSA.

The same entity stated that about 66,9 percent (%) of the citizens attended at the Praia Health Posts are not residents of the Algarve Region (53,1% are residents in other regions of the country and 13,8% are foreigners) and the remaining 33,1% are residents in the district of Faro. The posts of Armação de Pêra, Culatra and Armona were the busiest.

«Accessibility, natural and environmental conditions and the analysis of risk indicators (type of care provided, number of evacuations to health units, treatments and sutures, stings and bites) are the criteria for choosing the location of the various Health Posts in Praia, with the partners in this assessment being the Maritime Authorities, the Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission, the Algarve Hydrographic Region Administration, the Algarve Regional Tourism Authority and the local authorities», illustrated the ARS of the Algarve.

This service operates every day, between 10:30 and 19:30.
