The National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) reinforced the Medical Emergency Post of Firefighters in Portimão with another Emergency Ambulance.
The Municipality of Portimão announces that, through its president Isilda Gomes, it requested, on the 26th of June, the «increase of resources by the INEM in view of the increase in operational demand in the context of the pre-hospital emergency, which is usually emphasizes during the bathing season, and that this year has revealed itself with greater expression».
Following this request, INEM reinforced the municipality of Portimão with another means of assistance, which is operated 24 hours a day by the city's Fire Department.
For Tony Carreira's concert, on the opening day of the Sardine Festival (August 12th), INEM also responded to the request of the Municipal Civil Protection and will reinforce the medical emergency device with another Ambulance and an Emergency Motorcycle.
In July, the Fire Department responded to almost five hundred interventions in this area, which represents an increase of 35% compared to the same period last year and 52% compared to July 2013.
With this reinforcement, the capacity of the Integrated Medical Emergency System (SIEM) in the municipality is now being increased, «in keeping with the demographic increase of an international tourist destination, par excellence, which sees its population almost fivefold in this summer period», he stresses. the Chamber of Portimão.
