The Casa do Povo of Vila Nova de Milfontes is going to promote a meeting of choral groups from Alentejo, on August 22, starting at 20:30 pm, at Rua António Mantas, in Vila Nova de Milfontes.
The meeting will feature four guest groups: the choirs of Montoito, Mineiros de Aljustrel, Casa do Povo of Cabeça Gorda and Beringel, as well as the host group, the Choral Group of the Casa do Povo of Vila Nova de Milfontes.
This meeting is scheduled to start at 20:30, with a parade of all groups through the main streets of Vila Nova de Milfontes, followed by a performance on stage at Rua António Mantas (in the car park in front of the Mabi bakery).
Founded on December 13, 1986 by fishermen, shepherds, farmers, civil servants and retired people, the choral group began with an initial training of about 25 elements.
With a long curriculum of performances throughout the country, participation in television programs, Grupo Coral even participated in the opening of the Sudoeste Festival at Herdade da Casa Branca, in 2003. The group has been perpetuating the traditions and experiences of Odemirenses through singing .
In organizing this initiative, the Coral Group of Vila Nova de Milfontes has the support of the Municipality of Odemira.
