The installation of a water slide with more than 330 meters in length, on Avenida São Lourenço da Barrosa, or V6, in Portimão, will require traffic restrictions.
Traffic on the V6, in the south/north direction (Praia da Rocha – Portimão), is prohibited between 9 am on 7 August and 8 am on 10 August, in the section between the last two roundabouts of this road, the do Vau and Oceano Atlântico tourist apartments, where the City Water Slide will be installed.
The Municipality of Portimão will place signs at the site, indicating the alternatives for accessing the center, in addition to publishing a map with suggestions (see image).
«The City Water Slide aims to be a true summer party where there will be plenty of entertainment throughout an area that will be open to the public», according to the Portimão Chamber.
In addition to the giant water slide with more than 330 meters in length and two lanes, the initiative will have an area called «Water Slide Fest», which includes dance and fitness classes, entertainers and DJs, and an Urban Street Food area, «where it will be possible to enjoy a diversified gastronomic offer».
City Water Slide arrived in Portugal this year, having the concept emerged in the United States of America, and has already taken place in other countries such as Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
To slide on the City Water Slide, there are different modalities, at different prices, ranging from 5 euros for a single descent to 85 euros for the group mode of 4 people for the whole day.
