Ana Cabecinha_2Athlete Ana Cabecinha, from Clube Oriental de Pechão (COP), national walking champion with the mark of 1.27.46, is part of the Portuguese team that, in Beijing, will participate in the World Championship of the discipline, which will be disputed on the next 28th of August.

The marcher from Alentejo, who has been based in Olhão for a long time, will try to improve her 2008 record, when also in Beijing, at the Olympic Games, she won 8th place. The ambition is to improve this brand and, if possible, reach the podium.

The mayor António Miguel Pina takes the opportunity, on behalf of all the people of Olho, to wish “a high level performance to Ana Cabecinha, aware that, as we are used to, she will do her best to dignify our county and our country. ”.

Also at the national level, Ana Cabecinha adds and continues with the good results: on July 25th, in the Portuguese Athletics Championship in Open Air Track, in Leiria, the COP athlete won again the gold medal, being crowned by the 6th time Champion of Portugal in the 10.000 meter Marcha race, obtaining a record of 43.19,12, her second best personal record ever, being a good sign of the next goal.

The Municipality of Olhão, which has been a partner since the beginning of the COP, also extends “congratulations to the young athlete from the Fatoumata Diallo club, who recently participated and had a brilliant performance in Tbilisi, Georgia, in the European Youth Olympic Festival (FOJE) ”.
