Poster+Exhibition+O+sea+a+Terra.tifThe exhibition “The Sea, Earth and Time in the Space of Vila do Bispo – Archaeological, Historical and Ethnographic Perspective” is on display until 30 September at the Interpretation Center of Vila do Bispo, which produces this exhibition.

The initiative intends to share some contents (archaeological vs ethnographic artefacts, old photographs, bilingual information, etc.) about the History of Man and his relationship with the Sea and the Earth, a «binomial with remote and powerful roots in an extreme territory today called of “Vila do Bispo Council”».

The exhibition discourse is not organized in sequence, «provoking the visitor a free circulation through a web of left-wing between objects apparently arranged at random, but which, in the reality of the landscapes where they were collected, appear in an easily recognizable natural and cultural order», explains the Interpretation Center of Vila do Bispo.

Agriculture, grazing, fishing and shellfishing are some of the activities covered, as well as some of their cultural and ritual reflections. «Considered as 'traditional', these activities are documented since the times of regional prehistory, so they form an effective bridge that crosses times and cultures…».

Visitors can also explore the “History of the Month”, a monthly initiative that, in July, addresses the importance of the Catalan archaeological site, in Sagres, for understanding the transition from the Copper Age (Chalcolithic) to the Bronze Age, in territory of Vila do Bispo.
