The White Night takes place again, this summer, in the center of Loulé, after a one-year break. The official farewell party of the Loulé summer season is scheduled for the last Saturday of August, 29th, and will have «many surprises», since the program will only be known on the day of the event.
Last year, the executive councilor from Loulé, led by socialist Vítor Aleixo, decided not to hold this party, which took place between 2007 and 2010 and returned in 2013, after a two-year break. The municipality justified the decision with the "strong financial impact on the municipal budget" that the event would mean and with the "financial legacy left by the previous executive, in the order of 80 million euros in liabilities". But he promised, right then, that the initiative would return this year.
He also assured that he would "strongly commit to making Noite Branca be another success and reach high levels of public participation, investing in the artistic quality and innovation of the shows to be presented".
With the performance of the White Night, the Câmara de Loulé seeks to provide visitors with «a unique and unforgettable cultural and entertainment program, but, above all, moments of pure pleasure and relaxation, full of glamour».
The event has free entry and is open to all, with the local authority issuing an invitation to the population to "dress in white and enjoy having fun with family and friends".
«White is mandatory and transversal to the various events that take place here, from music to street entertainment, from fashion to painting, from the new circus to the plastic arts. The city's streets, alleys and squares take on a new life, dressed in white and with a surprise at every corner, presenting performances in which, at times, visitors are also protagonists», describes the Câmara de Loulé, in a press release.
And, despite the program being a secret, until the day of the party, the municipality leaves some clues about what will happen, on August 29th. «More than a hundred street performers give soul and color to the party, including jugglers, fire-breathers, statue-men, clowns, magicians, musicians, gymnasts or dancers. Chill Out and electronic music accompany the entire philosophy of the event and all over this urban center will echo the sounds of DJs and bands», he described.
