There are those who come on powerful motorcycles, others make the trip on low-capacity motorbikes and even those who arrive on foot, after taking a plane to the airport of Faro. All means of transport are used to reach the International Motorcycle Concentration of the Motoclube de Faro, whose 34th edition began this Thursday, in Vale das Almas.

Until Sunday, and as is tradition, the city of Faro and the county's roads will be full of motorcyclists, heading south to participate in the largest motorcycling concentration in Portugal and one of the largest in the Iberian Peninsula. This year, 15 thousand motorcycles are expected, with the organization pointing to a “quorum” of 25 thousand participants, at the level of the last editions.

The president of the Motoclube de Faro Zé Amaro was in conversation with the Sul Informação and with Rádio Universitária do Algarve RUA FM, this Wednesday, to anticipate this year's edition.

The musical poster has been known for a long time and counts with the British «The Stranglers» and with the Portuguese Blind Zero, among many others. But, defends Zé Amaro, music is not the main attraction of this party, so an effort was made to improve it. Thus, there are novelties, namely in terms of the look of some spaces.

“There have been some changes. Anyone who knows the venue knows that we have a tent, which is a tunnel (living and dining area), which has been totally modified, in terms of its appearance. We are going to have permanent street entertainment, something I consider essential. The Bike Show itself will also have a new image, as well as the tent where we sell the merchandising», said Zé Amaro.

Whatever doesn't change is the spirit of the party. The interaction and friendships that are created are the main part of the party, «more than the business part». And, over 34 years, many friends have been made and who continue to return, year after year, for the good and the less good.

“We have many partners from other countries. Right now we have a number of them staying at the headquarters, Spaniards, Irish and English. They came here and have been there for fifteen days working on the premises, cleaning, cutting tree branches and laying electricity cables”

There are also those who risk taking long journeys on low-displacement motorcycles, authentic adventures for those passionate about life on the road.

“There is a German of a certain age who came from Munich on a 50 cc CC motorbike,” said Zé Amaro. In other words, on a motorcycle with the same displacement as most scooters. Another Motard, this one already well known by the Motoclube, “came from the Czech Republic in an 80 CC and then goes to Mali”.

«They come walking, stopping and getting to know people. The concentrations are a pretext for people to travel and get to know new things along the way», he added.
