Feira da Serra Conference 2015_2Its aroma and taste make the typical Portuguese cuisine dishes from immemorial times happy and have also been used for a long time to cure ailments.

The aromatic herbs will be the stars of another edition of the Serra de São Brás de Alportel Fair, which will take place from Thursday to Sunday, July 23rd to 26th, at Escola EB 2 3 Poeta Bernardo de Passos.

The City Council of São Brás de Alportel is once again investing heavily in this event, one that brings more visitors to the county annually, and will be special guests the aromatic herbs, «an ingredient always present in the Mediterranean Diet and which is still used in many homemade meals in the Serra», as illustrated by the president of the Chamber Vítor Guerreiro.

The presentation of this year's edition of the event, the 24th, took place last Thursday, in São Brás de Alportel. It was there that the theme of the party was introduced, some news and, of course, the musical poster of Feira da Serra.

In 2015, the guest artists are Diogo Piçarra, who will perform on Friday, Rita Guerra, who will take the stage on Saturday, after a fashion show of the shops in the center of the village, and Quim Barreiros, who will liven up the venue at the Sunday.

In the field of novelties, the highlight is Sítio das Ervas, an exhibition area where this product of the land and its «potentials and countless applications» will be disseminated. Here, it will be possible to discover what mountain producers have to offer, as well as “gastronomic novelties” with aromatic herbs.

One of the highlighted projects will be Bioco Tradition, «based on the fruitful alliance between tradition and innovation», but there will be «many other entrepreneurial ideas that are made known over three days», according to the City of São Brás de Alportel».

Another area in which Feira da Serra stands out is gastronomy. In addition to the Serra products, which exhibitors from various parts of the interior of the Algarve will sell at their stalls, there is the tavern area, which this year will feature seven restaurant spaces, one more than usual.

Vítor Guerreiro: «We still have the area with six taverns and the terrace, but we will also have a seventh restaurant, in a quieter area and with a concept a little different from the others»

"We still have the area with six taverns and the terrace, but we will also have a seventh restaurant, in a quieter area and with a concept a little different from the others", revealed Vítor Guerreiro, in conversation with Sul Informação.

There are also novelties at Sítio dos Curosos, «where, to the usual and fun entertainment for children, there is a new space dedicated to the sea and the oceans, with the aim of raising awareness of the little ones through playful-pedagogical games».

The offer does not stop there, not least because «showing the potential of the interior of the Algarve», an objective assumed by the São Brasense mayor, is no easy task. «We try to have a varied offer, with gastronomy, handicrafts and space dedicated to equestrian art, a diversity that allows us to reach audiences with different tastes. We want to provide unique moments, so that people want to come back», he illustrated.

Serra SB 2014 FairAnother care that the organization, in charge of the City Council of São Brás de Alportel, takes is the guarantee of logistical conditions, so that the experience is the best possible, inside and outside the venue. “We try to think of all the details, from the access to the premises, to the parking lot, and also to guarantee accessibility for people with reduced mobility”, assured Vítor Guerreiro.

The 2015 edition of Feira da Serra will motivate an investment of 125 thousand euros by the municipality, an amount that translates into «an important return in terms of promotion and dissemination of local and regional products, of artisans, producers and other entrepreneurs, in a shows that it is inspired by the cultural identity of the Algarve mountains», according to the City Council of São Brás.

However, the 2015 edition is already being considered, in which the event will celebrate 25 years of existence. “We are going to increase the area by another two thousand square meters and we will have many new things”, announced Vítor Guerreiro.

Until 2016 arrives, Vítor Guerreiro invites residents and visitors to go to São Brás de Alportel, starting on Thursday, to smell the «Perfume of Tradition».
