This Monday, the Futsal team from the Vila Real de Santo António Schools Group was world champion of the FISEC 2015 games, a proof that brings together the best teams from each country in the various types of school sports. The same formation had already won the National School Sports Championship.
On Monday's journey, the Portuguese team – composed of VRSA students – won the gold medal in Futsal, by beating Brazil 3-1, thus reinforcing the merit already achieved at home and abroad.
This is the second time that the Vila Real de Santo António team wins the FISEC and the fourth consecutive time that it has won the national school sport trophy.
In athletics, Daniel Chagas, from Vila Real, also won gold in the 100, 200 and 400 meters of FISEC, expanding the merits of the VRSA School Grouping and the Pic-Nic Group, to which he belongs.
FISEC (Fédération Internationale Sportive de L'Enseignement Catholique) is held annually and brings together young people from primary and secondary education from all over the world. Its mission is to promote the sporting spirit, human values and cultural exchange between participants, through the promotion of physical and sports education.
Portugal is one of the oldest members affiliated with FISEC and has regularly participated in competitions. The country's representation in the competition is made by School Sports, at the national level.
