Variant EN125_Lagos_2The Lagos variant opens to traffic tomorrow, informed this afternoon the company Infraestruturas de Portugal. Contacted by Sul Informação, the company he had said, on June 27, that the opening of the road was “very soon”, without putting forward a specific date which, if you know now, is tomorrow.

According to the company, the section has a length of 1,48 kilometers and cost 3,47 million euros and intends to «essentially reduce the traffic that crosses the city of Lagos».

The route starts at the new roundabout giving access to Praia da Luz, built as part of the redevelopment of the EN125-Vila do Bispo/Lagos, and ends at the roundabout at Fonte Coberta. In addition to these two connections, the variant allows interconnection with the access section of the A22.

The information provided by Infraestruturas de Portugal does not refer to any opening ceremony.

To announce «soon» is also the opening of the North Variant to Faro. The opening of the Troto Variant is planned for the «Autumn».

AMAL president Jorge Botelho considers these three works "welcome", but regrets the delay in the requalification of the remaining EN 125, statements that you can read here.
