The petition for the immediate suspension of the collection of the Municipal Civil Protection Fee of Portimão, which collected more than four thousand signatures, will be debated in the Assembly of the Republic tomorrow, Friday, at 10 am.
On the same day, and taking advantage of the schedule for this discussion, the Left Bloc will put forward a bill, which proposes the prohibition of the creation of civil protection fees by local authorities.
This Left Block initiative is motivated by the fact that the petitions "are only discussed, not voted on". In the case of the bill, voting is mandatory.
Tomorrow's plenary meeting is public, so any citizen will be able to attend, in the galleries of Parliament. to what the Sul Informação he found that a group of citizens from Portimo will be preparing to travel to Lisbon, to see, in loco, the discussion of the petition and the vote on the bill.
The Municipal Civil Protection Tax of Portimão, approved in 2012, but which only started in October last year, generated a wave of contestation, from which the petition which will now be discussed in Parliament was derived.
