flowersThe second edition of FORA – Algarve Orality Festival starts tonight, at 21 pm, at Teatro Municipal de Portimão, with the presentation of the film «Floripes», by Miguel Gonçalves Mendes.

In other words, it begins with a legend that, for generations, has been part of the collective memory of the people of Olhão – that of the Moorish Floripes.

This is the motto of the film by Miguel Gonçalves Mendes, originally released in 2007 and produced by JumpCut.

Combining documentary with fiction, truth and imagination, fear and myth, we follow the story of the Moorish woman who enchanted fishermen and led them to tragedy through the voices of the people of Olho.

Legend has it that Floripes, an enchanted Moorish woman, wandered every night, sad and aimless, through the village of Olhão.
Prisoner of its enchantment, it represents the fear and suffering of the community of fishermen from Olhão, who, intoxicated by the spell of the beautiful and mysterious woman, would die when trying to cross the sea.

This myth is the pretext to evoke their fears and our greatest fear – death.

Make an appointment with Moura at the Small Auditorium of TEMPO at 21 pm on your agenda.
Free admission.
