One of the main hashish traffickers in the Algarve was arrested on Sunday afternoon, in Quarteira, by the Criminal Investigation Nucleus of the GNR in Loulé. In the same operation, the military arrested three more men and seized more than 80 doses of hashish and several firearms.
The 36-year-old man, the main target in the process, resident in Quarteira, was arrested in flagrante delicto, when he was selling "a considerable amount of narcotic product to two other individuals", who were also arrested, according to the GNR.
Following these arrests, the military carried out house searches of the three men's homes, one in Quarteira and two in Santiago do Cacém.
In the house of the main suspect, in Quarteira, the GNR found a fourth person, who was also being investigated, and who resides in Olhão, also the target of searches.
In total, the GNR searched four homes, two commercial establishments and six vehicles, having seized enough drug for 80850 doses of hashish, 33 cannabis plants, 9,5 grams of dry cannabis leaves, 145,3 grams of cannabis heads and 6,2 grams of cannabis resin.
The guard also seized three vehicles during the operation, one shotgun with serrated barrels, two shotguns, a 7,65mm pistol and a 6,35 caliber pistol, a compressed air gun, 120 caliber 12 rounds, an offensive hand grenade, eight war caliber ammunition, a military belt, five bladed weapons, ten mobile phones, two precision scales, eight fertilizer packages, a cannabis crushing mill, two LCD televisions, three laptops and 11301 euros, as well as other objects that allowed the drug to be stored.
The GNR adds that "the main target in the process, an entrepreneur in the clothing marketing sector, would be one of the main responsible for the introduction of hashish in the region, bringing it from abroad to market it to other retailers with connections to the Algarve region and essentially to the Algarve. area of the Costa Vicentina, namely the district of Setúbal».
The man used a trailer, which he had parked in the garage of a building in Quarteira, to store "high quantities of narcotics which he then resold as requested".
As part of the same process, the GNR said that another man had already been detained by the NIC in Loulé, who is in preventive detention and who was captured after having bought drugs from the now detained dealer.
The four men are now awaiting the coercive measures that the DIAP in Loulé will apply to them.
