Two chefs from the Algarve in the 2015 Chef of the Year contest final

Two chefs from Algarve restaurants are among the six finalists in the 2015 Chef Cook of the Year contest.

bosses2Two chefs from Algarve restaurants are among the six finalists in the 2015 Chef Cook of the Year competition. João Viegas, from São Gabriel Restaurant (Almancil), and Rogério Bento, from Salgados Dunas Suite Hotel (Albufeira), in the national final of the contest was announced this morning.

Algarve chefs are also joined by Duarte Eira (Salpoente Restaurant - Aveiro), Paulo Carvalho (Restaurant A Cevicheria – Lisbon), Ricardo Raimundo (Fatima Hospitality School) and Victor Adam (Douro-Lamego Superior School of Hospitality).

The national final takes place live, in November, at FIL, as part of the Food Experience.

The winner of the competition wins the title and «joins more than two dozen distinguished names in Portuguese gastronomy» such as Henrique Sá Pessoa, Fausto Airoldi, Henrique Mouro or João Rodrigues.

The 2015 Chef of the Year will also spend a month internship at the “Central” Restaurant in Lima, Peru, and receive a Makro Check worth €1.000 and another Mistolin check worth €1000 on professional and home products. ICEL also offers, to the top three, a kit of professional knives.
