Lagoa City Council is promoting a series of six sessions across the county, to discuss with the population the proposals for the Participatory Budget of 2016.
These Participation Meetings, always starting at 20:30, have already started on the 28th of May, in Ferragudo, and will continue on the 4th of June, in Parchal, at the Polo da União de Freguesias de Estômbar and Parchal, on the 18th of June in Estômbar, at the headquarters of that União de Freguesia, on the 25th of June in the Polyvalent Room of the Convento de S. José, in Lagoa, on the 2nd of July in the Municipal Gymnastics Room next to the headquarters of the União de Freguesias, in Carvoeiro, and finally , on the 16th of July, in Porches, at the Centro Cultural D. Dinis.
The first meeting, in Ferragudo, was attended by 20 citizens, who discussed and voted on the eight proposals presented, in a debate moderated by technicians from the City Council.
The most voted were the extension of the climbing wall in the Lagoa Climbing Center (12 votes), the creation of a car park next to the HRC district of Ferragudo (10 votes) and the redevelopment and expansion of the Lagoa Radical Park ( 10 votes).
Last September, the first Participatory Budget of the municipality of Lagoa had been presented and discussed, which benefited from an allocation of 300 thousand euros, including the nine most voted proposals. According to the municipality, these projects are "in the adjudication phase, and should be inaugurated by October".
The nine proposals approved were the shading of the Ferragudo Children's Park and Gym/Geriatric Park (404 votes), the water supply to the Canada-Cerro dos Pios site (345 votes), the creation of a climbing wall at the Bela Vista Stadium or on the premises of FATACIL (284 votes), a sustainable mobility project in the Municipality of Lagoa (254 votes), the creation of a bike path between Porches and Armação de Pera with a Porches-Senhora da Rocha connection (130 votes).
The proposals for paving the section between Pinheiro Redondo and Casa do Lavrador were also approved (104 votes), the creation of a Street Gym next to the Polidesportivo de Porches (78 votes), the improvement of accessibility in the town of Estômbar, through the replacement of pavement by tarmac, and the creation of a Street Gym in Alporchinhos (27 votes).
