Lagos City HallAt its most recent meeting, the Lagos Council approved the «dissolution, liquidation and internalization» of the Futurlagos municipal company activity, having also decided that the management of parking in the city will be transferred to the only municipal company that remains, Lagos-Em -Form, while the remaining matters return to the authority of the municipality.

Initially, in February 2013, the Lagos Municipal Assembly approved the merger between the two municipal business entities.

However, "the approval process at the Court of Auditors was not completed and was suspended following a request for clarification from the Court", and the executive also reflected on the company's activity and took into account "the current socio-economic context, the decrease in projects and actions that the new business entity would develop (and the fact that they would be likely to be taken over, with equal effectiveness and efficiency, by the existing technical capacity in municipal services)».

Therefore, "the executive decided that there is no justification for transferring the entirety of the activities to a new company to be created within the scope of the merger".

The Chamber also points out that «it will now be necessary to review the statutes» of Lagos-Em-Forma, to «integrate this new valence» of management of fee-based parking and covered car parks in Lagos.

The municipality emphasizes that "all the jobs currently existing at Futurlagos are secured, either by the return of workers to the staff of the municipality, or by the transfer of other workers to Lagos-Em-Forma".

The decision to dissolve Futurlagos will now be submitted to the Lagos Municipal Assembly for approval.
