municipal swimming pools in AljezurThe solar thermal energy project for the municipal swimming pools of Aljezur, which aims to install 100 solar thermal panels to heat the water in the 16.000 liter tanks, is now starting, announced the Municipality of Aljezur.

Within the scope of this project, the building of the swimming pools will also be subject to energy certification.

Previously, the municipality had already invested in the football field, in an intervention that has already been completed, having installed 12 solar collectors and a 2.000 liter storage tank there, thus allowing for a reduction in the consumption of fossil fuels, namely gas, with heating domestic hot water for consumption, as well as reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

This intervention was rated A (44%), in the energy classes, in the energy certificate issued by the Energy and Indoor Air Certification.

The total investment for the implementation of these projects is 222.726,22 euros, which will be financed under the PO Algarve21 at 65%, corresponding to an FEDER contribution of 144.772,04 euros and an effective cost by the Municipality of 77.954,18. XNUMX euros.

The Municipality of Aljezur emphasizes that “the reduction of the ecological footprint in the use of the territory is one of the vectors always present in its decision-making”.

Thus, energy consumption in equipment managed by the municipality «has been monitored, in order to promote any economically viable opportunity that allows for its reduction».

This orientation, adds the municipality, "has led to several interventions in the public lighting network, as well as in some public facilities."
