Historical RecreationSãoBrásAlportelThe town of São Brás de Alportel will go back a hundred years in time, on Saturdays and Sundays, with its historic center dressed to the nines and hundreds of extras taking to the streets, in order to relive the first decades of the XNUMXth century .

This historic recreation will mark the end of the commemorations of the Centenary of the elevation of São Brás to a county, launched about a year ago. The event takes place between 18pm and 2pm and has free admission.

At the weekend, the old houses and taverns will open their doors and make known their history. There will also be no lack of "fervent republicans and nostalgic monarchs", as well as "elegant ladies of wealthy families, gentlemen with abundant mustaches, but also artisans, merchants and masters of crafts."

The party will also feature music, dance and other arts, which will spread over three stages. The City Council of São Brás de Alportel, which organizes the event, installed the VilaAdentro, Verbena and Fonte Nova stages, where visitors can watch shows «of music, dance, theater, circus art and much more».

«There will be no lack of “old-fashioned work”, the waltzes, the tablet dance and even the old and mysterious dance “Fôfa”. There will still be time to listen to the old Realejo, to laugh with the Robertos, to chat with Estanco Louro, to watch a very special Fado Night, to listen to Jazz, like old times and, of course, to relive these 100 years of memories with all the senses», illustrated the São Brasense municipality, in a press release.

Gastronomy, as is customary in Portuguese festivities, will also have its space, in two catering areas, to be installed in the Churchyard and in the Garden of the former Episcopal Palace.

Here, the streets will be “invaded by the hubbub of artisans who sell their products, by the “tascas” of glasses and snacks and by an immense street entertainment made up of circus artists, jugglers, dance performances, singing, accordion, staging of events of everyday life”, among other surprises.
