A silver and two bronze medals were the main results of the athletes from Grupo Desportivo de Algoutim (GDA) in the Portugal Cup of Track for canoeing crews, where the Algarve club was represented by 15 athletes.
The silver medal was won by the quartet João Melo / Bruno Ramos / André Madeira / Ricardo Martins, in K4 1000m cadet, and the two bronze ones, by Micael Marques / João Domingues / Pedro Jeremias / Rodrigo Romão, in K4 Junior 1000m, and Micael Marques/Pedro Jeremias, in K2 Junior 200m.
GDA points out that its athletes managed, in this Cup of Portugal played on the Montemor-o-Velho track, to be present in finals A and three Finals B out of 14 possible.
Joining these results to those obtained, in March, in the Cup for single-seater boats, the small Alcoutim club closes the top 10 National in the sport. However, according to Bruno Carmo, coach of the GDA, it is already «beginning to be normal for the GDA, to be among the best national clubs».
