en396Improvement works on the EN 396 will require the cut of the section of this road, which connects the two industrial and business areas of Loulé, between 25 May and 30 June.

According to the municipality, "this cut does not imply substantial changes in the normal flow of existing traffic, since there is an alternative, with traffic being processed through industrial areas".

Despite the cut in circulation, the city of Loulé said that “access to residents and commerce will be guaranteed, although conditioned and possibly subject to delays”.

This project aims to improve the EN396, between the Industrial Zone of Loulé and the Franqueada, to improve "the safety and conditions of movement of people and vehicles along this road", and the works are divided into two phases : the 1st phase in a section further north, with approximately 1330 m in length, and the 2nd phase in a section further to the south, with approximately 400 m in length.

In addition to widening and improving the track, maintaining its current profile, a low-voltage underground electricity network will be implemented, public lighting and infrastructure will be created.

This intervention has an estimated value of around 450 thousand euros and an execution period of 7 months.

The contract is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, within the scope of the National Strategic Reference Framework – 2007-2013, under the Algarve Operational Program – PO Algarve 21.
