The Ideias do Levante Choir presents its most recent work in a rehearsal/concert, this Wednesday, May 20, at 21 pm, at the Pastoral Center of Ferragudo, as part of the XVII Coral de Lagoa Week.
In this rehearsal/concert, the audience will be able to discover how a choir is rehearsed and structured and how everything is combined so that the work of several months is presented on stage.
This initiative is presented after an intense weekend, with the carrying out of various activities included in the XVII Coral de Lagoa Week, with emphasis on the Opening Concert with the Gregorian Choir of Lisbon, at Estômbar Church, last Sunday , the 17th.
The Ideias do Levante Choir was founded in 1996, starting to present itself as one of the poles of Ideias do Levante – Associação Cultural de Lagoa.
Initially under the direction of conductor Ricardo Carvalho, it was in January 1998, under the artistic direction of José Carlos Bago d'Uva, that the group began to work based on a renewed concept of “choir singing pedagogy”.
He has already performed in various parts of the Iberian Peninsula and organizes various events throughout the year, including the Coral de Lagoa Week, an initiative that covers the county's parishes with choral music concerts, with the participation of choirs from the region, from the rest from home and abroad.
The Ideias do Levante Choir aims at the gradual progression, both technical and artistic, of the group, and the cultural promotion of the municipality of Lagoa and the region through polyphonic choral music.
It interprets a very eclectic repertoire as a means of pedagogical intervention and audience formation. The choral group has been, since 2003, directed by Francisco Brazão.
Admission to this concert is free, but limited to 80 seats.
A XVII Coral de Lagoa Week, takes place in the municipality, from 16th to 23rd of May, the result of an organization of the Municipality of Lagoa and the association Ideas of the Levant.
