The opening party of the 3rd edition of the “Copa do Guadiana”, scheduled for June 22, at 20 pm, at Vila Real Santo António Municipal Stadium, will have singer Anselmo Ralph, with his band and dancers, as a special guest.
The party will start with the inaugural parade of all participating teams, with a show full of light and sound, followed by the concert by Anselmo Ralph.
Between the 19th and 27th of June, Vila Real de Santo António will host the III edition of «A Copa do Guadiana». Over the course of a week, the city will bring together 4000 athletes (athletes and technical staff), becoming, once again, the capital of children's football.
On the field, and over the course of a week, there will be 224 teams, divided into nine levels (soccer 11 – 2000, 2001 and 2002; football 7 – 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006; and football 5 – 2007/2008) , which will play over half a thousand games on the 20 pitches at the VRSA, Lusitano and Beira-mar Sports Complex.
In addition to Benfica, Porto and Sporting, other great names in football such as Vitória de Guimarães, Vitória de Setúbal, SC Braga, Académica de Coimbra, Atlético de Madrid, Sevilla and Betis de Sevilla will be present at the «Copa do Guadiana». It is also expected the presence of several athletes from the 1st league for autograph sessions and socializing with athletes and fans.
For Conceição Cabrita, vice-president of the VRSA local authority, «the holding of another major tournament puts the municipality at the forefront of sport and consolidates the Sports Complex's capacity to organize, year after year, competitions that are a national reference and international and mobilize clubs from all over the country and abroad».
“This is, without a doubt, a social opportunity for thousands of young people who find in VRSA the opportunity to project themselves with the biggest names and football clubs. On the other hand, this is a meeting point for families who, for a week, have a football party and contribute to the good hotel occupancy rates of VRSA and Monte Gordo», says Conceição Cabrita.
Like other major competitions organized at the VRSA Sports Complex, «The Guadiana Cup» will count on the collaboration of dozens of volunteers who will guide athletes and teams around the tournament grounds.
So that nothing goes wrong, a bus line will be available, for 12 hours a day, to transport all the teams between the hotel units – where the teams and technical staff are located – and the venue of the games.
The third edition of the «Copa do Guadiana» has the support of the Vila Real de Santo António City Council and the municipal company VRSA SGU and is established as a sporting event of reference in the country.
