OrBlua_JorgeJubilot p03_smallAfter the Teatro das Figuras, in Faro, and Teatro São Luiz, in Lisbon, it is now up to Tavira
receive OrBlua's “Kinetic Portraits” at the 3rd Mostra da Primavera, on April 24, at 21:30 pm at
Bandstand Garden.

The Algarve band uses about 20 instruments on stage, from the oldest, to ethnic and
contemporaries. A concert where traditional, contemporary and experimentalism intersect.

Os Orblua, constituted by Carlos Norton, Nuno Murta and Inês Graça, are characterized by the originality of the compositions that have a Portuguese sound that smells of the Algarve, the sea, the mountains, the Mediterranean, Europe, the world, which collects colours, stories, memories, landscapes and dreams.

The name of the album «Retratos Cinéticos» has a double meaning: it simultaneously invokes the birth of cinema with the technique of photography animation, but it is also a reference to Kineticum, as the Algarve region was known in the period of Roman rule. The succession of images, sounds and texts make «Kinetic Portraits», a film that shows the Algarve.

The 11-track disc celebrates the Algarve region, each theme being an image of the Algarve, its culture and traditions, its people and customs. A contemporary vision of the Algarve's identity, seeking in the heritage the roots of the essence of the Algarve's people and culture.

Orblua2These are original songs and lyrics that talk about various themes in the Algarve, from fishing, to traditional mills (tide, wind, water), to almond trees, to an ecological alert in Cabo de S. Vicente, to the desertification of Serra do Caldeirão or about a tour of the entire region.

Among the original themes there is only one exception, a theme written by Sérgio Mestre, in a kind of tribute to the musician from Tavira. The theme Calendar has as a guest a friend of Sérgio, Janita Salomé, with whom he has collaborated numerous times.

Other guests, Gaiteiros de Lisboa, stand out in the theme Weather State and the theme I'm the boss here, based on the Mandated Balls. This theme was commissioned to OrBlua by the director Tiago Pereira for the series The People Who Still Sings. The theme ended up giving name to the episode dedicated to the Algarve.

There are 11 themes about the Algarve and there are 11 photographs taken by Jorge Jubilot, to make each song an illustrated postcard of the region.
