The new birdwatching trail «O Ninho», created by the City Council of São Brás de Alportel in Serra do Caldeirão, will be presented on Sunday, with a tour guided by a specialist in ornithology.
The meeting point for this initiative is scheduled for the Javali site, at 9:30 am. The tour continues “among cork oaks, vegetable gardens and riversides”, on a route that has six information points on common birds in this habitat.
Participation in this walk of the «Cycle of Nature Tours» is free, but subject to registration. Interested parties should register by calling 289 840 005 and 289 840 019 or by email [email protected].
The route that will be inaugurated was created within the scope of the Heritage Enhancement Project «Memories of the Earth», financed by the PRODER Programme, and «aimed at raising the awareness of residents and visitors to the appreciation of nature and the planet's biodiversity».
In addition to this route, there are three other bird watching points in São Brás de Alportel: «Bispo, Fonte Férrea and Farrobo, always from Estrada Nacional 2».
