The guard of a hunting reserve in Horta das Cebolas, in Monte Farelos, near Pereiro (Alcoutim), shot the boss with a shotgun this Wednesday, around 10:30 am. The man was arrested shortly afterwards by the GNR when he was already at his home, in Pereiro, and offered no resistance.
To what Sul Informação he found out, the victim was businessman Fernando Pereira, aged around 50, who was, according to former mayor Francisco Amaral, “one of the biggest employers in the municipality of Alcoutim”.
Osvaldo Gonçalves, current president of the Alcoutim Chamber, in turn, added that he was a businessman linked to the forestry, hunting, agriculture and livestock sectors.
"He was a man who went up his hand, knew how to grow what he received from his parents, and created the best hunting area in Alcoutim," added Francisco Amaral. The victim was also the owner of "hundreds of hectares of forest".
The crime, whose motivation is unknown, took place in one of the businessman's hunting fields, in the middle of this morning. When Fernando Pereira was traveling by tractor, crossing a river, the presumed murderer, his employee and friend, João Brás, who was fixing a fence for cattle, shot him in the head with a shotgun, causing him immediate death. .
The aggressor then went to his house, in the village of Pereiro, where, according to witnesses, he fed the dog and reportedly called the victim's wife telling her what he had done. It was at home that João Brás awaited the arrival of the GNR, which detained him without any resistance.
In addition to the shotgun used in the crime, the murderer will also have given the GNR two carbines and an air pressure.
O Sul Informação he also found that the murderer was an employee and responsible for more than ten years of one of the private hunting reserves explored by businessman Fernando Pereira.
