The Municipality of Silves, through its Social Action Sector, is looking for all couples residing in the municipality who will celebrate, this year, their “Golden Wedding”, ie, the 50th anniversary of the date on which performed their marriage. The goal is to be able to hold a commemorative lunch on May 15th.
The municipality of Silvense explains that, "although there are couples whose relatives mark the date in the family, there are others who, due to the isolation they are subject to, due to economic difficulties or even life constraints, fail to mark the date."
During lunch, souvenirs will be given to the birthday people, a cake will be shared, photographs will be taken and there will also be time to «go for a “dancing”».
The initiative celebrates “Family Day”, a date defined by the United Nations (UN) in 1993.
Normally, technicians from the Municipality's Social Action Sector carry out a research, with the support of the Parish Councils, in order to locate these couples. to be able to identify couples in these circumstances, so that they can participate in this activity».
