The BE deputy elected by the Algarve, Cecília Honório, took the situation of the company, based in Vila Real de Santo António for 67 years, to the Assembly of the Republic, to find out what has been the role of the Ministry of Economy in this process.

“On 25 March, the workers of Litográfica do Sul were confronted with the posting of the order appointing the provisional judicial administrator. Two days later, on the 27th, they were informed by the current administration of the company that there was no financial liquidity for the payment of salaries for the month of March and that the administration was in negotiations with an investor in order to keep it functioning the company. If these negotiations failed, the company would close its doors and the workers would be the target of a collective redundancy», described the BE.

Litográfica do Sul, recalled the Blocistas, is in a Special Revitalization Process (PER), «although, according to the workers and the union, there are no plans for the viability of the company, despite the number of orders approaching those 90'.

“The company's workers are waiting for an outcome to the faltering situation in which they find themselves. If the closure followed by collective dismissal is confirmed, it will be certain that they will not have a new job again, after more than 40 years of performing a specialized task in Litográfica do Sul. , 44 more people in a municipality where the unemployment rate reached 16 percent in January of this year”, concluded the BE.
