Italian cinema party_1The 8 ½ Italian Film Festival returns, for the third time, to Loulé, on April 30th, with an opening party, at 11 da Vila, and continues from May 1st to 3rd, with the presentation of nine films, between short and feature films, and an Italian class at the Cine-Teatro Louletano.

According to Stefano Savio, artistic director of the festival, “we are back in Loulé, for the third time in a row, thanks to the constant support of the Municipality of Loulé and the Cine-Teatro Louletano, and this year, we are betting on a substantial growth and development of the project, especially in terms of communication and promotion of the event. The main objective is to make the Italian Film Festival in Loulé an important and recognized cinematographic and cultural meeting in the Algarve”.

The party Italian Serata marks the opening of the festival in the Algarve and takes place on Thursday, April 30, at bar 11 da Vila, in the heart of downtown Loulé.

Between 19:00 and 02:00 in the morning, the party takes place to the sound of Discossauro vinyl, in a cinematographic journey through the imagination of the 7th art and in a typical get-together of the Beautiful country.

The opening session takes place on Friday, May 1st, at 21 pm, where “Our boys“, by Ivano de Matteo, based on the bestselling book by Herman Koch, “The Dinner”.

This film engages and loves viewers in a frank battle between morality, prejudice and family protection, where the choice is much more difficult than what appears in the story of two brothers who, following a tradition, have dinner once a month, in a luxury restaurant, until one day surveillance cameras film a dramatic episode of violence.

The following day, May 2, starts at 16 pm, with the session Il Corto, composed of four short films: “sassywood“, by Antonio Andrisani and Vito Cea, “Bella di note“, by Paolo Zucca, “Beauty“, by Rino Stefano Tagliaferro, and “belva nera“, by Alessio Rigo de Righi and Matteo Zopp.

 


At 18:30 pm, the big winner of the Italian Film Festival, in Lisbon, is screened, “dark souls” (“Black souls“), by Francesco Munzi, a film that was widely applauded at several international festivals, namely at the Venice Film Festival, where it received an applause for 13 minutes.

It's about a movie Black very strong about three brothers linked to 'ndrangheta, one of the most powerful mafia organizations in the world.

 

At 21 pm, the film “The headquarters of happiness“, by Carlo Mazzacurati, a comedy about the search for a chair where a real fortune might be hidden.

The last day of the festival in the Algarve, Sunday, May 3rd, at 16 pm, starts with an Italian class dedicated to the theme of Fashion, where different and important terms related to clothing and beyond will be taught, in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. No prior knowledge of the language is required, just a willingness to learn and speak.

At 18:30 pm, we travel to Italy, with “Basilicata coast to coast“, by Rocco Papaleo, a musical comedy in which a group of musicians crosses the entire Basilicata region on foot, from the Tyrrhenian coast to the Ionian coast, in a cathartic, fun and whimsical journey.

This film is part of the Focus section of the 8th edition of the Festa do Cinema Italiano, held in collaboration with the Lucana Film Commission, dedicated to the culture and film productions of this fascinating and still little-known Italian region: Basilicata.

The closing session of the festival takes place at 21 pm, with “How strange to be called Federico" ("Che strano chiamarsi Federico)“, by Ettore Scola, which had its premiere in Portugal, in partnership with Alambique Filmes, and portrays the life of a great protagonist of Italian cinema, Federico Fellini, directed by a great friend of his and also a master of Italian seventh art. (Ettore School).

This documentary, premiered at the Venice Film Festival and awarded by the Italian Union of Film Journalists, mixes fiction and repertoire images, in a special tribute to Fellini's genius.

Tickets for the cinema sessions and for the Italian class cost 3,00 euros and free transit for all the sessions during the three days of the festival (including the Italian class) costs 15,00 euros.

The ticket office is open on the 1st of May from 20 pm, on the 00nd of May from 2 pm and on the 15rd of May from 00 pm.
