The tirade connected Portel and Mértola, in a long journey of 189,6 kilometers, the longest in this race. Collective falls were a constant, with Manuel Cardoso and other elements of the Algarve group being involved in them.

"It was a very complicated journey, I fell twice, as well as other teammates, but, despite the problems, I managed to get back on track and compete in the final", said the athlete who finished second in the sprint in Mértola, and goes from yellow to the 4th step.

Cardoso leads the competition, now with 3 seconds ahead of the 2nd place occupied by the Algarve cyclist Samuel Caldeira, now at the service of the W52/Quinta da Lixa.

"This is a race to be disputed until the last second, as the bonuses affect the classification and you have to give everything for everything", underlined the Team Tavira sprinter.

Manuel Cardoso also praised the work of his colleagues: «this is a collective triumph in which we all do our best to achieve good results and dignify the name of Tavira».

Tomorrow, Saturday, Aljustrel sees the squad depart towards Vila Nova de Santo André, in a total of 143,7 kilometers.
