Africa_and_back (2)The Aljezurense Rui Nuno left this morning for a round trip by motorcycle to South Africa. In all, there are about 50 thousand kilometers, along which he will be an «itinerant ambassador of the Municipality of Aljezur».

For this, the adventurer received this morning, from the hands of the president of the Chamber José Amarelinho, a pen drive with reproductions of images and texts from the recently published prestigious book «Aljezur, the heart of the Costa Vicentina», which the pilot will divulge throughout the journey.

In his project/adventure «África e Volta», Rui Nuno left the entrance to the Town Hall of Aljezur for a long journey through 30 countries, which should take him to Cape Agulhas, in South Africa.

Rui Nuno is going alone, carrying in his luggage everything he needs to complete the trip autonomously and without assistance, but "he won't be alone", as his trip can be tracked through his blog. Facebook or Twitter.

Rui Nuno, 48, confesses that he had been thinking about this trip for years, but it was only in the last six months, after deciding to "drop everything", that he began to prepare it in every detail.

Due to the time it took to deal with bureaucracies, for example, the date initially planned for the departure of Aljezur, in January, was postponed almost two months. This may bring some added problems to the trip, since the initial date was intended to allow the biker crossing the toughest parts of West Africa before the rainy season, which normally lasts from April to July.
