But, from March 25th to April 5th, all this and much more can be tasted in Portimão, during the Gastronomic Week, an invitation to lovers of the quality and freshness of regional cuisine and sweets to visit the municipality during this extended period. which encompasses Easter.

A total of 44 participating establishments in four main areas participate in the initiative: Praia da Rocha; Portimão Center; riverside area of ​​Portimão “Between Pontes and Largo da Barca”, Alvor and also establishments in Três Bicos (one), Vau (one) and Mexilhoeira Grande (one).

Specially for this season, the participants propose a mouth-watering variety of dishes and regional sweets, from horse mackerel to octopus or razor clam rice, not to mention the búzios or shrimp feijoada, Algarvian squid, fisherman's stew, cataplana de fresh fish from the Algarve, ribs in lard with migas, country chicken à Monchique, all sweetened with a carob and orange pie, small bowl of Alvor or soft egg puff pastry with almond.

old bridge portimão2The entertainment during this period will be constant and the proposals are for all ages: music, fado, stories to listen and tell, yoga, creative dance and themed workshops for children, Portuguese-style magazine “O País das Maravilhas”, gymnastic soiree and the several exhibitions on display at the Museu de Portimão and at the Casa Manuel Teixeira Gomes, combine with gastronomy between 25 March and 5 April, during which the Week of Gastronomy takes place in Portimão.

All participating establishments will be properly identified abroad, which is an organization of the Portimão Tourism Association (ATP) and Go Portimão, which has the institutional support of the Portimão City Council and the Parish Council of Portimão, and the support of School of Hotel and Tourism, of the Algarve Wine Association and of the Confraria do Medronho “Os Monchiqueiros”.
