Purslane, Swiss chard, nettles, mint-da-ribeira are some examples of the wild flora that can be found there, and that can be used in gastronomy or in infusions.

In addition to these products of the land, which are not only valuable for their nutritional power, but also for their medicinal properties, the fair offers horticultural and gastronomic products, produced locally, and handicrafts, as well as themed activities.

A walk around the village of Querença, guided by an experienced botanist from the region, Colonel Rosa Pinto, is one of the proposals of the Querença Project, which revitalized this monthly market and helps the local population to make it more dynamic. During the tour, you will be introduced to the plants that grow naturally in that area of ​​the Barrocal.

The children will also have an activity dedicated to them, a «Painting Workshop», where lime-based paints will be used, an initiative of the «Project Baroque».

The Querença Market is an initiative that has been growing and currently has more than 25 stalls selling local products, from handicrafts, art, sculpture, sweets, wine, vegetables, dried fruits, among others. It takes place on the last Sunday of each month, several times a year, and has the support of the Union of parishes of Querença, Tôr and Benafim, as well as the Municipality of Loulé.
