baron's talkThe Easter period will be filled with initiatives in Lagos. The municipality of Lacobrigense organized a program of activities to animate “the more and less young”, which will highlight sweets, handicrafts, music, plastic arts and scientific experiments.

One of the highlights of the program takes place on Easter weekend, from April 3rd to 5th, with the 14th Folar and Handicraft Fair, in Barão de São João. Here, you can enjoy the flavors of traditional folars and the local sweets and learn about the work of artisans in the municipality.

«This is, at the same time, a great opportunity not to be missed to visit one of the most typical rural parishes of Lagos», challenged the Chamber, in a press release.

Easter week will also have music, in this case two concerts. On April 2nd, the Academy of Music of Lagos organizes a concert with the German string quartet Lenbach Quartet at the Centro Cultural de Lagos. The same venue hosts, on the 4th, at the same time, a show by the Orquestra Clássica do Sul.

In the area of ​​historical heritage, the Câmara de Lagos highlights the initiative «Easter with History – Visit to the Walls and Towers of Lagos», scheduled for April 4, between 15pm and 18pm, which includes a walking tour and visit commented by some military structures for the defense of Lagos. Registration is free (and limited) and is open until April 1st.

Easter_Lakes ArtAnother reason for attraction will be the plastic arts exhibitions. Until the 12th of April it is possible to see, in the streets and windows of the historic center of Lagos, the «Easter Art», a thematic exhibition alluding to the festivities of the Easter commemoration.

In this exhibition, 63 pieces are exhibited, relating to the figurative portrait of Jesus Christ – Passion of the Christ, performed by students of the Visual Arts classes (10th to 12th grades) of Escola Secundária Júlio Dantas.

For younger people, the Centro Ciência Viva de Lagos organized an "Easter Holiday", with many scientific experiments, and Lagos em Forma proposes the "Lagos em Forma Sports Holiday – Easter 2015", with a series of sports activities, directed at for children from 5 to 12 years old, on weekdays between March 26th and April 6th.

Also at the Youth Space will be taking place at this time an OTL – Easter Space Youth, which includes activities for children from 6 to 10 years old, namely group games, plastic expression, cultural visits, cinema, traditional games, dance, among others.

The Concert will feature the German string quartet Lenbach Quartet, with Uta Hannabach and Uta Kerner on violin, Miriam Peter on viola and Sunita Mamtani (cello and artistic direction), who will perform one of Franz Schubert's masterpieces, string quartet nº 14 in D minor, popularly known as Death and the Maiden (German: Der Tod und das Mädchen). The first part of the concert will feature mezzo-soprano Joana Godinho and soprano Carina Ferreira, in the interpretation of some emblematic arias of the music of this Easter season.

In the streets and shop windows there are 63 pieces made by students of the Visual Arts classes (10th to 12th grades) of Escola Secundária Júlio Dantas. Students from the Professional Technical Window Display Course at the same school provided support to 20 participating stores. The facades of the Churches are decorated with works by the artist Tolentino Abegoaria.
