This Sunday, as always happens on the last Sundays of each month, was the day of Querence Market.

Although the theme for this month of March is around herbs – purslane, Swiss chard, nettles, mint -, there was much more to buy in the market, including pastries, fresh bread, sausages, arbutus brandy, assorted sweets, homemade lupines, liqueurs, homemade baskets, fresh vegetables and fruits…

In between, there was still time for a short walk to Fonte da Benémola, guided by Colonel José Rosa Pinto, an experienced botanist who explained everything about the flora of this area of the Barrocal. Orchids, albardeira roses, carob trees, thyme were some of the plants the participants came across.

The next Mercado de Querença will take place on the last Sunday of April.
