The Portuguese motorcyclists who participated in this year's edition of the Dakar Rally, including the runner-up in the Paulo Gonçalves race, will be in Alcoutim on February 28th to participate in the 1st edition of the «4 Horas TT Pereiro-Alcoutim».
The initiative will take place at the Pereiro dam, where a circuit of about six kilometers is being created. Each team will consist of one or two riders and one or two motorcycles, with only two classes: Class 1: 1 rider and one motorcycle; Class 2: 2 riders and 1 or 2 motorcycles.
“In the surrounding area there will be a set of support infrastructure such as showers, bars, a lunch tent and an area for washing motorcycles. The public will have at their disposal specific areas where they can watch the race unfold with full visibility of the route and in safety», reveals the organization, which is in charge of Associação Inter-Vivos, Grupo Desportivo de Alcoutim and the Municipality of Alcoutim.
In addition to Paulo Gonçalves, Hélder Rodrigues, Ruben Faria and Mário Patrão, the presence of six riders from the Yamaha team is also confirmed, including António Maio and the alcoutenejo Luís Teixeira, as well as the Algarve rider Pedro Afonso.
