holm oakA pedestrian walk from Junqueira to Azinhal, with the Guadiana at the side, is the proposal of the Algarve Nucleus of the League for the Protection of Nature for next Saturday, 7 February.

According to the organization, it is an easy walk, along wide paths and some paths, on schist floors, through vast landscapes of hills and valleys dominated by rockrose, rosemary and holm oak.

With beautiful views over the Guadiana, on the other side, some abandoned urban aberrations can be observed, and, on this side, there is still the threat of construction of (another…) golf course.

At the end of the tour, in the village of Azinhal (in the municipality of Castro Marim), there will be a stop at the famous pastry shop “A Prova”, to taste and take home the local specialties.

Enrollments are mandatory and must be made by 12:00 noon on February 5th (Thursday) to the email [email protected] (indicating name, date of birth, ID number or Passport, for mandatory insurance purposes).

Meeting point: at Azinhal, at 9:30 am.
Necessary to bring: boots, raincoat, lunch and good mood!
