CPP-Paralympic Day-School-Portimao-posterO Portugal Paralympic Committee (CPP), in partnership with the Municipality of Portimão and the Poeta António Aleixo Schools Group, is organizing the Paralympic Day at the School in Portimão.

The Paralympic Day starts on March 11, with the Training Action – Paralympic Modalities in School Context, aimed at teachers, students and sports technicians, in order to transmit the basic principles of some of the sports involved in the Paralympic Day in School.

On March 17, at 10:00 am, it is time for the colloquium with the theme “The Paralympic Movement”.

The debate will be attended by paracyclist Luís Costa and sailing coach Luís Brito, CPP president Humberto Santos, director of the Poeta António Aleixo Schools Group, Luís Manuel Correia, and Education councilor Ana Figueiredo Santos.

March 18th is reserved for the experimentation of Paralympic sports.

There will be thirteen sports in total – wheelchair handball, athletics, wheelchair basketball, bocce, cycling, goalball, judo, karate, swimming, wheelchair tennis, shooting, sailing and sitting volleyball.

From 08:25 am, these modalities will be promoted at the Poeta António Aleixo Secondary School (multipurpose room, sports hall and outdoor areas), in the pavilion and outdoor area of ​​the 2,3 D. Martinho de Castelo Branco Basic School, in the Municipal Swimming Pool and Marina de Portimao.

CPP_CMYKThis moment of approaching the Paralympic and Deaflympic sports allows us to affirm the universal principle that sport is for everyone, attracting new athletes to the Paralympic sports.

Although it is aimed at students from the Poeta António Aleixo Schools Group and from the municipality's disability support institutions, anyone can appear during the morning of March 18 at the sports facilities and watch the activities or even try them out. .

With this event, which is already becoming a regular part of the activities of the Paralympic Committee, another step is taken towards the integration of Paralympic disciplines in the curriculum of the Physical Education discipline, taking them to the base places of sports practice and to more public young people, thus contributing to the affirmation of the Committee's motto “Equality, Inclusion and Sport Excellence”.

The event also has the support of Vista Marina, tourist apartments.
