stuttering diogoDiogo Gago and Jorge Carvalho completed their difficult debut in the European Rally Championship, with a 7th place among Juniors, in a race in which the Peugeot Rally Academy duo showed that they have to be counted on when fighting for the first places.

In a race in which the pair made their debut on snow, Diogo Gago and Jorge Carvalho entered the race well, getting the seventh best time in Juniors and the best among the rookies in the race in the opening special, so that, in the following special, they had a exit, which left the Peugeot 208 R2 badly damaged and would cost them the fall to last place.

The persistence of the young duo who recovered the car after the special was worth it, with this work to be later completed by the Sainteloc technical team in the service park, thus leading the Peugeot 208 R2 to finish the first stage in eleventh place among the Juniors .

This Sunday, the last day of competition, Diogo Gago and Jorge Carvalho sought to add kilometers in the snow, making some interesting times, while accumulating experience and moving up in the general classification, finishing in 7th place in their category.

At the end of the rally, the Algarvian Diogo Gago said that this result, “in view of our desire to finish this rally, turns out to be positive. Despite what happened, we never gave up and despite the setbacks that presented themselves, we always managed to react. In this second stage, we ended up walking with some security and we tried to regain confidence in this type of floor in order to reach the end and score some points, which ended up happening”.

Diogo Gago also “thanked for the excellent work that Peugeot Rally Academy did with our car, in particular after the road trip on Saturday, where only the great tenacity of everyone allowed us to continue in the race. We can't also forget the many messages of support we received throughout the competition and which were a very important stimulus in our first competition at the Junior European”.

Diogo Gago and Jorge Carvalho now have the next race scheduled for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of April, in Ireland.
