The signing of the sponsorship protocol between the athlete and the local authority was signed this Monday and will represent, according to the Chamber, "a strong contribution to the co-payment of the pilot's expenses and will contribute to improving the conditions of his participation in the competitions that will take place in the throughout the year'.

«In return for this support, the athlete is obliged to insert the municipality's logo or other promotional elements on their motorcycles, support vehicles and equipment used during the competitions, as well as make reference to the City Council's sponsorship in dissemination actions on the internet , and also the insertion of the logo or mention of the sponsorship in all communication actions with the media», according to the Vila do Bispo Chamber.

João Lourenço, born and resident in Salema, is 22 years old and has been a motocross rider since he was 18 years old. In his history, the Baja Portalegre 500 rankings stand out, ranking 1st in the promotion class and 12th in the overall ranking in 2012 and 2013, 5th and 4th place in the Infante Endurocross, in 2012 and 2013, respectively. In 2014 it won 5th place in the TT1 Open National Championship and 1st place in the National Enduro Trophy – Greens 1.

For the municipality, this measure represents the continuity of support for sport and thus encourage the practice of sport among younger people.
