To set out to discover nature in the municipality of Portimão is the invitation that the Portimão municipality makes with the organization of hikes on natural routes until the month of May. The first route takes place on February 21st between Praia do Vau and João D'Arens.
The meeting point for this tour is at the Praia do Vau car park, where participants will gather at 09:30 am, starting a route between Praia do Vau and Ponta João d'Arens along the cliff, with the possibility of observing « a great diversity of landscapes and habitats'.
The tour lasts approximately two and a half hours and will be guided by the team of biologists from the Câmara de Portimão, who will lead participants to discover some of the natural secrets present along this route of about 3 km.
Along the way, the local authority highlights the possibility of observing “geological accidents, such as the lakes, species of Mediterranean flora, such as the exuberant and fragile orchids, the aromatic thyme and rosemary, as well as the stinging flight of the peregrine falcon”.
The next nature trails are already scheduled. The next one takes place on March 21st between Moinho da Rocha and CP Station, while on April 18th, a tour through the Alvor dunes will be proposed. The last tour will be on May 23, along the Alvor estuary (Quinta da Rocha), and in all cases registration will be open a week before.
