The first elected director of the Regional Delegation of the Order of Economists took office this Friday, at the end of the afternoon, in a ceremony with a full house that took place in the Auditorium of Visualforma Business Center, in Faro.

The ceremony was attended by the mayor of Faro, who drew attention to the “example” of entrepreneurship that Visualforma itself and its mentor, entrepreneur Luís Ferrinho, represent.

Rogério Bacalhau, against the backdrop of the situation in Europe, Portugal and the Algarve, also defended «clearer management processes based on a basis of competence and correctness», adding that «the state of local authorities is also a constraint on economic activity » of the regions.

Luís Ferrinho, who hosted the inauguration, insisted on stressing that «the Algarve needs this type of synergy», between companies, universities, professionals and local authorities.

Rui Leão Martinho, re-elected President of the Order of Economists, defended the role of this class organization and the advantages brought by the fact that it is now present throughout the country.

Stressing that one of the objectives of the OE is “to help define economic and social policies for the country's development”, Leão Martinho challenged the new delegation from the Algarve to present proposals for the region.

Pedro Pimpão, who is the first president of the Regional Secretariat of the Order of Economists, announced in his speech that a protocol will soon be signed between the OE and charities to help them collect funds, but above all to offer services members of the Order in order to help these institutions.

The inauguration culminated with a lecture by João Duque, full professor of Finance at ISEG-University of Lisbon and administrator of the Novabase company, on «The Sustainability of the Portuguese Public Debt».
