Rocha Beach_1The requalification intervention on Avenida V3, in Praia da Rocha, is nearing completion, announced today the Municipality of Portimão.

This is one of the works that was at a standstill when the current executive took office, and a new tender was promoted and awarded to complete this intervention, which was fully financed by the Tourism Fund, with the so-called game funds, that is, the municipality stresses, «without recourse to any budget from the municipal treasury».

Budgeted at around 135 thousand euros, the contract now completed was launched in 2014, with a new project being prepared for the work, especially in terms of the arrangement of the central separator, so that «the high maintenance costs of the initial project were deleted'.

Thus, explains the Municipality of Portimão, the trees on the sidewalks were replaced, which were covered with slabs, as well as the crosswalks, in order to facilitate pedestrian circulation.

In addition, the walkways were raised, decorative stones were introduced in the central separator, the rule system was adapted and autochthonous plants were introduced, such as dwarf palms.

Rocha Beach_2The Chamber press release adds that "it is the intention of the current executive to launch a new procedure in 2015, again using funds from the game", now for the requalification of the section between the roundabouts of the fountain and Simón Bolívar, "while maintaining aesthetics and the type of arrangements now completed, as well as the replacement of the palm trees in this section (many are already dead) by autochthonous trees».
