The new academic year of the Socio Sport School of the Real Madrid Foundation – VRSA/Castro Marim has already started, with the modalities of basketball and football.
In Castro Marim, basketball classes take place on Wednesdays and Fridays, at the Municipal Pavilion, between 17:30 pm and 19:00 pm, with the coordination of sports coaches from the City Council.
Opened about three years ago, the Socio Sport School of the Real Madrid Foundation – VRSA/Castro Marim aims to promote, among socially disadvantaged children and young people, the practice of sports and, in this way, be an important contribution to their integration Social.
The Real Madrid Foundation School – VRSA/Castro Marim currently has around 120 students between 6 and 17 years old.
Classes take place in the locations of Monte Gordo (football), Vila Nova de Cacela (basketball), Vila Real de Santo António (football and basketball) and Castro Marim (Basketball).
In addition to practicing sports, the Fundação Real Madrid School offers its students leisure alternatives that encourage them to develop healthier ways of life.
In the set of offers of this School, «the promotion of ethical values, such as solidarity, participation, team spirit, respect for the opponent, non-discrimination, among others, is a pillar», stresses the Castro Marim Chamber in a note press release.
“This is an initiative that deserves the municipal effort that has been made. Sport is an instrument of excellence in social integration and this project has acted not only on children and young people in high-risk socioeconomic situations, but also on those who, in some way, are socially more vulnerable», says sports councilor Nuno Pereira.
