Samuel UriaSamuel Úria already has "good friends" in the Algarve, and is counting on doing many more during his visit to Faro, next Sunday, which will take him to perform at the Forum Algarve's FNAC, at 17 pm and at “Os Artistas”, from 22 pm.

On stage, there will only be the artist and his guitar, but, warns the Portuguese musician and composer, anything can happen, even the debut of songs yet to be edited.

«Since I'm going alone and I don't have to account for the band that accompanies me, I can't fully foresee what will happen. I can feel like doing things on stage that were not planned», revealed Samuel Úria, in an interview with Sul Informação and to Rádio Universitária do Algarve RUA FM. The conversation can be heard, in full, here.

“There may be surprises. I'm writing new songs and I don't really like to keep them in a drawer, waiting for them to go into disc format. It may be that, suddenly, some of these new things are unshelved and that they have their first test this weekend», said Samuel Úria.

Guaranteed, guaranteed, is the «commitment» on stage, the «great pleasure» in returning to the Algarve and that the concerts will largely be based on his most recent work, the album «Great Fear of the Small World», from 2013, without prejudice to listening to songs from other works. "The bulk of the concert lineup, both at FNAC and at Os Artistas, will be based on this record, but you never know what the public can pull from their sleeve or top hat to present", he stressed.

I have many friends there. And I have the perspective of making more friends, in Faro. Do not stray from giving me a good time or a kiss, which I will try to respond with sympathy and music», he assured.

Despite performing two concerts on the same day, in the same city, Samuel Úria does not intend to offer two identical shows. “I'm afraid this makes me seem unpersonalized, but the audience greatly affects the way I present myself. The audience, the space, the expectation itself… even things as simple as the duration of the show, end up conditioning. And, as the conditions surrounding each concert are so different, it's natural that I'm not the same in the afternoon and in the evening,” he said.

Samuel Úria is already the owner of a respected career, either as a performer, solo or accompanied, or as a composer. And he is not “selfish”, in his facet of creator, since he cultivates collaborations with several artists. Here, he confesses, there are two sides of the same coin.

“Sometimes it's similar [composing for himself or for others], in that I write the songs for myself and then I think: this one doesn't work for me, I'm going to offer it to someone. This has already happened with António Zambujo, with a song from his last album, that I thought would work with that sweet voice of his, and I think it worked. But when I write for other people, like Kátia Guerreiro or Ana Moura, who are fado singers, my process is different. Although there are many similarities with composing for me, I already have other concerns, because fado already has a whole story that, not being mine, I want to respect», he explained.
