“Payload” is the name of the new short film by Algarve production company New Light Pictures, which features actors Diogo Amaral and Vera Kolodzig. The film will now have its official premiere at the Cine-Teatro Louletano, in Loulé, on the 16th of December, before starting to circulate on the international film festival circuit.
At the end of 2013, the duo of independent directors Sonat Duyar and Patrício Faísca (who brought Command, in 2010, and which are now ending “Presa”, with Diogo Morgado), were contacted by British actor Theo Handen.
Teo had seen “Comando” on Youtube and decided to approach them to write, produce and direct an action movie that would allow him to catch the attention of producers in Hollywood.
“Payload” was the result of this partnership, filmed almost entirely at the Conrad Algarve hotel, with a very low budget, but with a lot of ingenuity and dedication on the part of a local team of more than 30 people.
The film has already been promoted by the Algarve Film Commission at the Cannes Film Festival 2014, as a representative of Portuguese Cinema at the Instituto do Cinema e Audiovisual (ICA) stand.
Executive producer Theo Handen couldn't be more pleased with the result, as “Payload” has already secured him a role in a feature film to be produced in Hollywood later this year.
