NIC AlbufeiraA couple of young heroin, cocaine and crack traffickers were arrested yesterday, the 29th, in flagrante delicto, in Guia (Albufeira), by the Criminal Investigation Nucleus of the GNR's Territorial Detachment in Albufeira, that police force announced.

The arrest of young people aged 22 and 33 years old, living in the Sintra and Lagos areas, "from where they had traveled using public transport", culminated, according to a press release, an investigation of that Center that had already been underway "since about seven months ago'.

In possession of the duo, GNR agents seized drug "enough for 1165 doses of heroin, for 100 doses of cocaine and even a small amount of crack". All these narcotic products were packaged 'in small packages used to carry out direct sales to the consumer'.

The GNR also seized five mobile phones and 175 euros in cash.

The man, resident in Lagos and of foreign nationality, had previously been sentenced to effective prison terms for drug trafficking. In 2011, after serving his sentence, he was expelled from national territory for a period of six years, but, according to visas, he returned to Portugal before the end of that period.

According to the GNR, the individual was "currently in our country using false documentation", which was apprehended during his arrest.

The detainees will be present at the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action of the Public Ministry of Portimão to apply the coercive measures.

With these arrests, the GNR says it believes it has dealt "a heavy blow to drug trafficking in the municipality of Albufeira, increasing public safety and tranquility in that area".
